West Calhoun Neighborhood Council Board Minutes
April 11th, 2017 – 6:00 P.M. – Bakken Museum
A quorum being established, the March board meeting minutes were approved.
Chair Allan Campbell reported on a meeting held on March 28th with Michael Schroeder, Park Board assistant director for planning. Schroeder is to work with the Minnehaha Creek Watershed District to come up with a scope of work for determining the feasibility of a project to improve drainage in our neighborhood greenspace. Schroeder also encouraged the Council to come back to him with ideas for near-term improvements to the greenspace.
Martha Yunker indicated interest in being the Liaison to the Greenway Coalition, though she also indicated that she may not be available for all meetings.
Allan Campbell reported for the Events Committee that Movie Nights will be June 10th with a showing of “Neither Wolf nor Dog” at no cost to the Council, and a showing of “Fences” on our regular movie night of July 7th. Astronomy Night will be done this year in conjunction with the Bakken on October 5th.
Allan reported that Bader Development was in the early stages of planning new high rise buildings on the Calhoun Towers site. A preliminary meeting has been arranged with Bader and members of the Land Use Committee were invited to participate.
Tina Erazmus reported that the newsletter would be out in time to promote the May annual meeting. The focus of the meeting will be on the neighborhood greenspace. Earth Day will be observed on April 22nd, with Annie Zager and Allan Campbell co-ordinating for West Calhoun.
